Entertainment through Social Media

Social media helps us to socialize times. Moreover, students have even in solitude by the use of Internet. None hates to mingle with people. Students seek solace through social networks now-a- days instead of the conventional method. This requires less effort as they can meet everyone lying on their bed itself. People – mainly students – who play games or pursue a hobby to relax their mind are less now-a-days. Education, awareness, entertainment, etc; is available on social sites. Moreover it has become a trend now.

Students use social network to socialize themselves with their friends. Friendship other than in facebook is feeble in present groups on social media to get updates related to studies or class information. They try to find relief in talking to a friend or just browsing through the content on social media without even having an eye on time. Teasing friends on their photos, making fun of statuses, trying to become popular on sites are generally observed.

The word ‘social’ has the meaning ‘connected with the society and the way it is organized’ and ‘media’ has the meaning ‘ways to receive information and entertainment.’ So social media can be thought of as a means people try to interact with their peers and also to get information related to different topics aimlessly.

Advantages

» Connecting with colleagues and friends to share or discuss work related information.

» Knowing about friends(as most use fb for posting updates).

» Inspiring quotes etc sometimes motivate downhearted people.

» Helps feel connected even in solitude.

» Posts related to success of our friends inspires us too to succeed.

» Helps us to be updated with new trends.

» Helps know the technology better.

Disadvantages Kills time

» Discourages contacts with people in real world.

» Creation of dynamic pages on social sites requires rapid updation of content.

» People grow curious to know how people are interacting with their posts.

» Terrorist activities are difficult to be controlled over social network.

» Privacy of people is often violated.

»Increase Hypocritical virtual behavior

Anything without limit is often dangerous. So is social media. One must know one’s own limits and adhere to self-discipline on social media too. “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive. I Cor 10:23

Entertainment through Social media is acceptable as long as it does not affect our daily work or studies. Finally, Friends, “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you” (Phil. 4:8-9).
