19 Jan Are You Worth It?/ What Is Your Worth?
Do you ever question your worth? Low self-esteem is based on what you believe about yourself. You may have received negative messages from your parents, your friends, your classmates or spouse which may have caused you to feel worthless. No matter the cause for your low self-esteem, God does not make junk. He has placed great value on you. In fact, He sent His Son to die for your sins because of His desire to make you a part of His family!
Our Lord Jesus says great things about you and me, in John 15:5 He says“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” The most important aspect is how we regard ourselves on the whole. Let me narrate a story,
In a garden filled with bushes, out from between a load of grass and weeds, there appeared, a white rose. It was as white as driven snow, its petals looked like velvet, and the morning dew shone from its leaves like resplendent crystals. The flower couldn’t see herself, so she had no idea how pretty she was. And so it was, that she spent the few days of her life, without knowing that those all around her were amazed by her and her perfection: her perfume, the softness of her petals, her elegance. She didn’t realise that everyone who saw her spoke well of her. The weeds that surrounded her were fascinated by her beauty, and lived in a state of enchantment at her aroma and appearance.
One hot sunny day, a girl was strolling through the garden, thinking how many lovely things Mother Nature has given her, when she suddenly saw a white rose in a forgotten part of the garden. She saw that the rose began to fade and wilt so she decided to take it home and put in a vase with water by the window. The next day when the sun shone brightly on the rose, it was for the first time the rose saw herself in the reflection onthe window. Only then did she realise how beautiful she was and with the help of the sunlight and the water, the rose regained her former appearance, and she thought -”Wow! Till now I hadn’t realised who I was, how could I have been so blind?”
And when we place Christ in our hearts we will be able find out who we are in Christ!
The rose came to realise she had spent her days without appreciating her beauty, unable to see herself, unable to know who she really was.
If you really want to know who you are, forget everything that’s around you, and just look into your heart.
Yes, WE must look deep into ourselves to know who we really are. Maybe we have been looking for our identity in the approval of others. Maybe we’ve been looking for it in our performance and role at work or at home. Now is time for transition. We should not try to find our identity from what we do, but search our identity in our hearts. And when we place Christ in our hearts we will be able find out who we are in Christ!
